How do we Test our Engines

How do we Test our Engines @ www.usedjapanmotors.com -ENGINE WORLD USA

We have a great nexus of trustworthy suppliers who have been making containers for us for over 15 years. All engines are pulled from running cars, engine is started while in the car.

When we receive the container in the US, each & every engine is compression tested. To measure the cylinder pressure, we take out the spark plug, connect a pressure gauge to the cylinder & the engine is turned with the help of a battery starter connected to the starter motor of the engine. Cylinder pressure is measured as pounds per square inch (psi) The cylinder pressure (psi) difference between all 4 cylinders or 6 cylinders (incase of a V6 engine) must not be more than 10% . Sometimes the difference may be more than 10% as the engine has been stationary for several months so the valves may be sticking. In this case we lubricate the cylinders with WD40 (an effective lubricant). If the compression does not go up, we do leak down test to find out pressure leaks from valves, rings, block, or gaskets.

Oil Pressure—proper oil pressure in a used engine is a great indicator that the internal components are in good shape. Certainly an engine cannot be shipped with poor oil pressure and in fact much more detailed inspection would be required if low pressure was detected in a used engine.
We also check the engine for sludge. Sludge means “Oil build-up gunk” which blocks the passages, this is what cholesterol does in human body. We open the valve cover & oil pan to check for sludge & oil contents.

The block is carefully inspected for cracks. All external components are carefully removed from the engine as intake & exhaust manifold have O2 sensors according to Japanese emissions & other add-on parts, accessories & sensors are different from the US version.

We have qualified & experienced technicians who spend over two hours on each engine.

Therefore our emphasis lies more on ensuring good quality engines rather than ONLY focusing on low mileage. Haven’t you seen 2 year old cars with 5000-10,000 miles in serious conditions. One may not change engine oil regularly within 3000 miles & keeps on driving, as a result there will be a sludge build up & the car will end up in a repair shop requiring serious repairs or a new engine.

We are constantly trying to supply hassle-free, tested engines and we carry almost all models of following Japanese engines:

ACURA, HONDA, TOYOTA, LEXUS, NISSAN, INFINITI, MAZDA, MITSUBISHI, SUBARU, & SUZUKI

We also carry performance engineswith Turbo, VTEC & Mazda Rotary engines.

If you need an engine or a transmission, please send us a price quote from our website www.usedjapanmotors.com or simply call us toll free at 1-866-418-3229 OR 1-713-863-9195 & experienced sales staff of ENGINE WORLD USA will be glad to assist you.
